How to register: Register EACH PARTICIPATING ADULT SEPARATELY and add children names to your registration form.
Learn a nearly lost craft. Participants will make traditional hand-tied brooms using broomcorn and locally sourced hazelwood handles. Stefanie Songchild will be helping to teach this craft. She is local broom artist who grows her own broomcorn every year.
You’ll learn:
Historic broom-making techniques
Binding and shaping for durability
The cultural history of functional fiber arts
Slow, rhythmic, deeply satisfying work.
As a focused craft, it is recommended that adult participants with young children have another support person present. Once you start your broom, you will need to continue without stopping for about 30-45 minutes.
